Team Building Event Essen
The 13 participants from a company in Essen met promptly on 10 September 2024 at 13:00 at Burgplatz, ready for an exciting Murder Mystery Geocaching through the city center.
As team guide I welcomed the group, gave a brief introduction and split them into two teams. After a quick walkthrough of the app on the tablets and a short review of the rules, the teams set off on their hunt. The digital guide displayed clues and crime scenes, turning familiar city spots into stages for mysterious cases — a great mix of technology, puzzles and urban exploration.
During the roughly two-hour tour the teams were on their own and engaged in a friendly race for the most points. Points were awarded for correctly solving puzzles and for successful team tasks that required communication and cooperation. As team guide I remained reachable by phone throughout and offered support if technical issues or questions about the tasks arose.
The weather cooperated, making the tour through Essen even more enjoyable. The route led the groups past several landmarks — they experienced the atmosphere at Essen Minster and the Museum Folkwang, and the striking SANAA building was also part of the discovery tour. Stops like these turn the event into a real team building experience in Essen: teamwork meets city history and the joy of discovery.
After exactly two hours everyone met back at Burgplatz for the joint awards ceremony. Tension was high as the scores were tallied: victory went to team Immoscout 60 with 240 points, closely followed by Die gloreichen 6 with 195 points. Applause, laughter and a few well-deserved congratulations rounded off the finale.
This Murder Mystery Geocaching once again demonstrated how effective a team building experience in Essen can be: playful, motivating and unifying. It was a pleasure to see colleagues grow closer as teams, tackle clear challenges and discover the city from a new perspective.
