Team Building Event BG ETEM

The perfect late-summer weather greeted us on September 3, 2024 at 2:45 PM in Cologne and set the mood for our Geocaching event.

As the CityHunters team guide I welcomed 24 participants from BG ETEM at Theo-Burauen-Platz. After a brief introduction and dividing into four teams we explained the format: tablets with the preinstalled CityHunters app, clear instructions for quiz questions and team tasks, and the game rules — that was the starting signal for a true team building experience in Cologne.

The teams set off and explored the city on their own. I stayed reachable by phone throughout the tour in case any questions or minor issues came up. The challenges demanded creativity, combinational thinking and teamwork: solving puzzles, identifying locations and completing joint tasks — all of which earned points and boosted team cohesion. The famous sights, especially Cologne Cathedral, the Hohenzollern Bridge and the Museum Ludwig, provided an impressive backdrop for our team building experience in Cologne.

After two hours all teams regrouped at Theo-Burauen-Platz for the awards ceremony. The tension was palpable when the results were announced: the winning team was Dom Perlen with 240 points. In second place came Verwirrt ans Ziel with 240 points, and third place went to MuBi, also with 240 points. Whether just ahead or just behind, the joy over shared experiences and successful team achievements was what mattered most to everyone.

Moments like these show how effective Geocaching can be as a form of team building experience in Cologne: playful, challenging and great fun. It was a pleasure to accompany the event and watch colleagues grow closer against the city’s impressive backdrop. Anyone looking to combine team spirit, adventure and urban discovery will find an unforgettable team building event here.
