Team Building Event Sparkasse an Volme und Ruhr
The weather was perfect — great timing for our Murder Mystery Geocaching in Dortmund!
As the team guide for CityHunters, I met 28 enthusiastic colleagues from the Sparkasse at Hansaplatz, where the adventure began. After a short introduction I explained the plan: participants were split into four teams, given the app on the tablets, and sent off to explore the city as investigators. Our city walk took us through busy passages and along the Volme and Ruhr rivers, past landmarks like Dortmund Central Station, the Reinoldikirche, and the German Football Museum.
During the tour the teams were on their own and competed friendly to see who could score the most points. Points were awarded for correctly solving puzzles, completing team tasks, and smartly combining clues. The app led the groups to the scenes of the cases, turning familiar sights into exciting investigation locations — city exploration became an interactive murder mystery. I stayed reachable by phone throughout the game in case any questions or technical issues came up.
The team building experience in Dortmund was front and center that afternoon: collaboration, role allocation, and fast communication often decided success or failure. It was great to see colleagues bring their strengths to the table, collecting clues, analyzing evidence, and solving tricky tasks together. Those kinds of experiences create lasting memories and strengthen team bonds.
After three hours all teams returned to Hansaplatz for the award ceremony. The tension was tangible as the scores were added up: the winning team was Team Joi with 285 points, followed by Die 7 Schnüffelnasen with 270 points and TKKG 4.0 with 255 points in third. The excitement and applause at the finale showed how much fun the event had been.
This Murder Mystery Geocaching was more than just a game — it was a lively team building event in Dortmund that sparked curiosity while delivering a real team building experience. I look forward to many more investigations in this exciting city!
