Team Building Event Hyatt Regency Cologne GmbH
The concept: An interactive iPad Murder Mystery Tour combines puzzle fun with city exploration and playfully strengthens team spirit.
On August 12, 2024 at 2:30 pm I had the pleasure of welcoming the group from Hyatt Regency Cologne GmbH in Cologne as the CityHunters team guide. The meeting point was Theo-Burauen-Platz, where I briefly greeted the twelve participants and split them into two teams. With one iPad per team, the CityHunters app and a short briefing on how to use it and how the game works, the adventure began — this is how a modern team building experience in Cologne works in a practical and engaging way.
Over the next few hours the teams were on their own, competing against each other in a friendly rivalry. Points were earned by solving puzzles correctly and creatively tackling team challenges. The app guided the groups through the city center, showed the next locations on the map and presented clues to small cases set against historical backdrops. Along the route we passed impressive sights including Cologne Cathedral, the Hohenzollern Bridge and the Museum Ludwig — ideal settings for an exciting city adventure.
I remained reachable by phone throughout the tour in case questions or problems arose. That allowed the teams to focus on puzzling, discussing and making decisions. It was precisely this collaboration that turned the experience into a real team building experience in Cologne: communication, role distribution and shared ambition were promoted in a playful way.
After three hours everyone met back at Theo-Burauen-Platz for the awards ceremony. In perfect weather the results were announced: the winning team Team Kooleteamname took first place with 160 points, closely followed by Bierkönigen with 140 points. The mood was jubilant and proud — a lovely finish to an intense game.
For me it was wonderful once again to see how a format like this awakens team spirit while making the city feel new.
