Team Building Event Bayer Direct Services GmbH
The sun was shining and the weather could not have been better — perfect conditions for a lively team building event in the heart of Cologne. As a CityHunters team guide I had the pleasure of welcoming a group of 27 employees from Bayer Direct Services GmbH on June 27, 2024, who had gathered at Alter Markt to experience Geocaching and a genuine team building experience in Cologne together.
After a brief welcome and introduction I explained the schedule, handed out the tablets with the preinstalled CityHunters app and formed four motivated teams. The mix of puzzles, team tasks and exploring the city immediately created a positive buzz. From the start it was clear that this day was about fun, communication and clever collaboration.
The route led the teams to well known as well as hidden spots around the cathedral: past Cologne Cathedral, a detour with a view of the Hohenzollern Bridge and challenging tasks at the Museum Ludwig — always with tasks that tested both brains and team spirit. Participants discovered corners of the city that some of them had never really noticed before. That is exactly what makes our Geocaching special: sightseeing and active collaboration rolled into one.
During the roughly two and a half hour tour the teams were on their own and competed in a friendly way for the most points. Points were earned by solving puzzles correctly and by creative team performances. I remained available by phone throughout to help with questions, although most of the time it was enough to watch the groups develop solutions hand in hand.
Back at Alter Markt everyone gathered for the award ceremony. The atmosphere was relaxed and proud: the team building experience in Cologne once again showed how shared challenges bring people together. To everyone’s surprise and much laughter Die Herzchen took the win — with zero points to their name, which gave us all an extra smile.
Events like this demonstrate how positive a team building experience in Cologne can be: new perspectives on the city, lots of fun and strengthened collaboration stay with participants for a long time. I am looking forward to many more adventures with teams who want to rediscover Cologne.
