Team Building Event DekaBank Deutsche Girozentrale
The weather was perfect, with sunshine and a light breeze for the iPad Tour through Mainz on September 15, 2023 at 5:00 PM.
As the CityHunters team guide, I welcomed 28 enthusiastic colleagues from DekaBank Deutsche Girozentrale at Mainz main train station. After a brief introduction to the iPads and the CityHunters app, the participants were split into five teams and the adventure began: a modern Scavenger Hunt full of puzzles, creative team challenges and a live scoreboard.
The teams were on their own and fought for every point — strategic thinking, speed and communication were rewarded. The app connected all groups in real time, showed interim scores and made it easy to stay in touch. As the team guide I was reachable by phone throughout the tour in case of technical questions or other issues.
The route took us past some of Mainz's iconic sights: the impressive Mainz Cathedral, the historic Electoral Palace and the striking Drususstein. Tasks at these locations repeatedly produced surprising aha moments and plenty of laughter. In this way sightseeing became a true team building experience in Mainz — playful, interactive and with a strong focus on collaboration.
The atmosphere was consistently lively and focused at the same time. You could feel colleagues briefly turning into tacticians, sleuths and lateral thinkers. Experiences like these are what make our concept of a team building experience in Mainz so valuable: it combines city exploration with team tasks and modern technology into an intense experience.
After two hours all groups met again at Mainz main train station for the awards ceremony. The ceremony was a pleasant finale, where successes were celebrated and highlights were shared once more. Many took the opportunity to discuss solution approaches and then relax in the city for the evening.
For me as team guide it was a great pleasure to accompany this team building event. The team building experience in Mainz shows how much joy and cohesion an interactive city tour can bring — an experience that will stay with all participants for a long time.
