Team Building Event BG ETEM
The sun was shining and the weather was perfect for our Geocaching tour through Cologne.
On September 5, 2023 at 2:45 PM, 14 colleagues from BG ETEM met me, their team guide, at Theo-Burauen-Platz. After a brief welcome and an outline of the plan — including a demonstration of the CityHunters app on the tablets — we split into three teams. The mood was immediately upbeat: excitement, curiosity, and a touch of competitive spirit filled the air.
Then we set off. During the Geocaching in Cologne the teams discovered well-known and hidden spots across the city, collected points, and solved a variety of puzzles and team challenges. Whether in front of the impressive Cologne Cathedral, with views of the Hohenzollern Bridge, or near the Museum Ludwig, the tasks demanded creativity, communication, and keen observation. The teams largely organized themselves independently while I stayed reachable by phone to help with questions or technical issues.
A team building experience in Cologne really shines when colleagues have to puzzle things out, make decisions, and push each other forward. The friendly competition and shared joy over small victories created plenty of aha moments and many laughs. The mix of playful challenge and city exploration meant the group not only experienced the city in a new way but also strengthened camaraderie and team cohesion.
After exactly 3 hours, all teams reconvened at Theo-Burauen-Platz — exhausted, thrilled, and full of stories from downtown. At the awards ceremony everyone celebrated enthusiastically, the best performances were acknowledged, and the team spirit was praised. This Geocaching event was once again a great example of how a team building experience in Cologne combines fun, memorable experiences, and lasting togetherness. I am already looking forward to the next tour through this vibrant city.
