Team Building Event Max-Planck-Stiftung
The sun was shining right on time for the start — perfect weather for an active morning in Heidelberg.
As a team guide for CityHunters I welcomed 51 enthusiastic participants from the Max Planck Foundation at the Heiliggeistkirche at 9:30 a.m. on 10 July 2023. After a brief introduction and the split into eight teams, each group received the information and equipment they needed to start the Scavenger Hunt: tablets with our CityHunters app, an explanation of the format and a few orientation tips.
Then it was on: pure team building experience in Heidelberg. The teams headed into the old town, followed coordinates and discovered corners you can easily overlook. Tasks led the groups past Heidelberg Castle, across the Old Bridge and to historic spots like the University Library and Ruprecht-Karls-University Heidelberg. Along the way there were puzzles, creative team challenges and small detective tasks — points were awarded for correctly solved challenges and the atmosphere was fantastic.
It was especially rewarding to see how quickly the groups bonded: communication, role allocation and joint decision-making clearly showed what matters in a team building experience in Heidelberg. I remained reachable by phone during the tour in case of questions or technical issues, allowing me to provide discreet support without interrupting the flow of the game.
After three hours everyone reconvened at the Heiliggeistkirche for the awards ceremony. The tension was palpable as the scores were announced — winners celebrating, applause and many smiling faces provided a triumphant finish. Moments like these show how lasting the effect of a well-designed team building event can be.
