As a CityHunters team guide I had the pleasure of leading an iPad Murder Mystery Tour on May 2, 2023 for 31 colleagues from Siemens AG. We met at 3:30 PM at Hugenottenplatz, where I welcomed everyone and gave a brief rundown of the plan. After a short briefing we set off in five teams into the city center — the real team building experience in Erlangen began.
Equipped with iPads, the teams tackled tricky puzzles and completed a variety of team challenges. The app guided them to different stations, taking them past well-known spots like Friedrich-Alexander University, the Botanical Garden and the Huguenot Church. The mood was consistently upbeat: participants puzzled, debated and laughed — all in the spirit of a team building experience in Erlangen.
During the tour the teams were largely on their own and competed in good-natured rivalry for the most points. Points were awarded for correctly solved cases, clever teamwork and quick action. I stayed reachable by phone in case any questions or technical issues came up, and I enjoyed seeing the creative approaches the groups used to solve the tasks.
After about 1.5 hours everyone reconvened at Hugenottenplatz for a short award ceremony. It was brief but festive: applause for the winners, amusing anecdotes from the teams and shared smiles over the highlights — that’s how a team building experience in Erlangen really brings joy.
The weather cooperated, the atmosphere was lively, and the mix of puzzle fun, city discovery and team dynamics made the afternoon a special experience. As guides we always enjoy watching how these tours bring colleagues closer together and spark meaningful conversations.
