Team Building Event BDL e. V.
Leipzig is a city of music, history and lively corners — the perfect place for an interactive team building event. On September 30, 2024 at 10:00 I had the pleasure of accompanying an iPad Tour as a CityHunters team guide for 17 colleagues from BDL e. V. The meeting point was the Thomaskirchhof, where the mood was already upbeat and full of expectation.
After a brief introduction to the CityHunters app and the iPads, the participants were divided into three teams. The tasks ranged from tricky puzzles to creative team challenges that demanded both team spirit and communication. The app connected the groups, displayed scores in real time and fueled the competitive drive — in line with a modern team building experience in Leipzig.
The teams set off across the city centre on their own: past St. Thomas Church, the Gewandhaus and the University of Leipzig, testing powers of observation, speed and inventiveness. During the tour the groups were fully autonomous and engaged in a friendly contest for the highest score; I was reachable by phone and could support from the background. That gave everyone a sense of security without taking away the competitive element.
The weather played along, which loosened the atmosphere even more. Laughter, short strategy huddles and surprising solutions shaped the day — a real team building experience in Leipzig where colleagues could get to know one another in new ways. The mix of technology, urban exploration and collaborative problem solving produced many aha moments.
After exactly three hours all teams met again at the Thomaskirchhof for the joint award ceremony. With 185 points Team 1 won and received the coveted medals. In second place were Die Crashpiloten with 180 points and Blindflug with 165 points. The delight over the awards and the pride in the team performance were clearly noticeable.
Experiences like this show how effective and entertaining a team building experience in Leipzig can be. As a team guide I am always happy to see how quickly dynamics shift and connections form — and I part with the hope of exploring the city together again soon.
