Team Building Event DKMS Group gGmbH
The concept of the iPad Tour blends history, culture and modern technology into an interactive team building experience and is perfect for a team building experience in Cologne.
On 19 September 2024 at 6:00 pm I had the pleasure of welcoming 58 employees of DKMS Group gGmbH to Theo-Burauen-Platz as a CityHunters team guide. After a brief introduction to using the iPads and our CityHunters app, I explained the procedure: form teams, start the app, and the high-tech Scavenger Hunt through the city begins.
We divided the group into nine teams. Each team received an iPad as their focal point; the app displayed tasks, the live score and enabled motivating exchanges within the team. The mix of puzzles, creative challenges and navigation through the city center made the experience particularly varied.
During the tour the teams were on their own and could put their strategies into practice; it was less about speed and more about collaboration, creativity and powers of observation. I was reachable by phone throughout in case of technical questions or uncertainties, and I enjoyed the many successful team moments.
The route took the groups past some of Cologne's best-known sights: from the impressive Cologne Cathedral to the Hohenzollern Bridge and on toward the area near Museum Ludwig. Such landmarks provided a lovely historical and cultural backdrop for the tasks and highlighted how well city exploration and team building experiences in Cologne can be combined.
After two hours all teams met again at Theo-Burauen-Platz for the award ceremony. The podium was hotly contested: first place went to Die Klüngel Gang with 155 points, followed by Fabulous Five with 120 points and Sternsuch AG with 115 points. The atmosphere at the awards was fantastic — a great finale to a successful team building event.
The weather cooperated, the mood was euphoric and the feedback confirmed that our iPad Tour combines fun, encourages communication and delivers a genuine team building experience in Cologne. Evenings like this repeatedly show how shared challenges strengthen bonds.
