On September 7, 2024 at 9:30 AM I had the pleasure, as a CityHunters team guide, of welcoming the 20 participants from Philips GmbH at Schwedenplatz. After a short introduction and an overview of the schedule we split the group into three teams; as is usual at our events, small groups formed (about five to eight participants each). Everyone received a tablet with the CityHunters app preinstalled and a quick briefing on how the tour and the tasks work.
Then the Geocaching began: along the route through Vienna the teams followed coordinates, solved puzzles and completed creative team challenges. Points were awarded for correctly solved puzzles and collaborative solutions – the competitive spirit was tangible without taking away the fun. The tasks led the groups to well-known sights like St. Stephen’s Cathedral, the Hofburg and the Karlskirche, but also into small, hidden corners of the city. During the tour the teams were out on their own and I was reachable by phone in case of questions or technical issues.
The weather cooperated and the mood was both lively and focused – exactly the mix that makes a successful team building experience in Vienna. You could see colleagues bringing different strengths, coordinating with one another and coming up with creative solutions. Experiences like these build trust, improve communication and, above all, create joy in shared success.
After 2.5 hours everyone met again at Schwedenplatz for the award ceremony. There was a buzz of excitement as the results were announced and warm applause for the winning teams. That finale made clear how lasting the impact of a Geocaching event can be: it combines exploration, competition and community – the perfect ingredients for a team building experience in Vienna.
I had a great time running the event with Philips: engaged participants, lots of laughter and real team moments. Anyone wanting to rediscover Vienna and strengthen teamwork within their company will find Geocaching a varied and effective option. The team building experience in Vienna was, once again, a complete success today.
