Team Building Event Helmholtz Information & Data Science Academy
The 16 participants of the Helmholtz Information & Data Science Academy met on the morning of June 7, 2024, for our Geocaching event — excited and in high spirits, ready for a shared journey of discovery through Mitte.
As the team guide I welcomed the group at the agreed meeting point on Anna-Louisa-Karsch-Straße, gave a brief introduction and split everyone into six teams. After explaining the format and how to use the CityHunters app on the tablets, the teams set off. Each team received tasks, clues and puzzles, and the race for the highest score was on.
The route took participants to familiar and surprising spots: from views of the Brandenburg Gate to stops near Museum Island and the impressive Berlin Cathedral, there was plenty to discover. At each stop teamwork, creativity and attention to detail were required. Points were awarded for correctly solved puzzles and joint team challenges, which immediately deepened cooperation. During the two hours the teams were on their own and competed against one another in good spirits; I was available by phone for support at any time.
A team building experience in Mitte works exactly like this: discovering together, solving puzzles, laughing and supporting one another. The feedback was uniformly positive — many praised how quickly new connections formed and how much fun the shared challenge was. Our Geocaching format combines city exploration with playful competition and creates experiences that have a lasting effect on the team.
After two hours everyone returned to the starting point for the award ceremony. The team Data Hunters won with 270 points, followed by One up with 240 points and Almost lost in Berlin with 210 points. The weather cooperated, and the atmosphere was both exuberant and proud.
A team building experience in Mitte can be wonderfully combined with urban discovery and adventure. Whether for small groups or larger teams — such events create shared memories, strengthen team spirit and bring fresh energy to everyday work. I am already looking forward to the next time in Mitte and to more exciting discoveries with new groups.
