Team Building Event Sellhorn Ingenieurgesellschaft mbH
Old Town is a city full of contrasts, history and exciting corners just waiting to be discovered.
As a CityHunters team guide, I had the pleasure on June 5, 2024 at 2:00 PM of leading a large Geocaching event for Sellhorn Ingenieurgesellschaft mbH at the Rathausmarkt. Seventy-two motivated colleagues met there; we greeted each other briefly and split into 12 small teams before the adventure began.
After a short introduction I explained how the event would run and how to use the CityHunters app on the provided tablets so everyone could compete with confidence. The mood was instantly electric: anticipation, laughter and a touch of friendly rivalry filled the air. Then the teams set off to explore Old Town — independently, enthusiastically and full of energy.
The route took the groups to well-known sights like the Elbphilharmonie, the Speicherstadt and the Hauptkirche St. Michaelis. At every stop there were puzzles, small team tasks and clues that earned valuable points. Creativity, communication and problem-solving were required — exactly the elements that foster a real team building experience in Old Town.
For the full three hours I was reachable by phone in case any questions or technical issues came up. Most teams worked brilliantly together, solved tasks on their own and enjoyed the mix of competition and discovery. The nice weather helped too and made the city experience all the more enjoyable.
After exactly three hours everyone reconvened at the Rathausmarkt for the awards ceremony. While the scores were being tallied there was eager suspense, then loud cheers: one team celebrated the win and the others received warm applause. Moments like these bring people together — that is the true strength of a team building experience in Old Town.
As a guide it was deeply satisfying to see colleagues become temporary teams of explorers who laughed, puzzled things out and shared moments of success. Geocaching is more than a game; it is an active, memorable team building experience that lasts long after the event ends.
