Team Building Event ZEIT-Stiftung Ebelin und Gerd Bucerius
Murder Mystery Geocaching blends city discovery, puzzle fun and teamwork into an exciting event concept. As the team guide I welcomed the 37 participants from ZEIT‑Stiftung Ebelin und Gerd Bucerius on 31 August 2023 at 12:30 PM — the meeting point was the rear of St. Peter's main church, where our tour began. The group was split into five teams and off they went: pure excitement, pace and team spirit.
After a short introduction the teams received tablets with a special app that guided them to the various crime scenes around the city. The technology provided the red thread through the cases and displayed tasks and clues — a perfect mix of digital features and real-world city exploration. What started as an ordinary walk turned into a genuine team building experience in Old Town, where collaboration and communication mattered more than speed alone.
Over the three hours the teams were largely on their own and engaged in a friendly competition for the most points. Points were awarded for correctly solved puzzles and for creative team tasks that required everyone to develop ideas and make decisions together. I remained reachable by phone throughout and assisted with questions or technical issues — often a small hint was enough to get a group back on track.
The route led the teams past well-known Old Town sights; the Elbphilharmonie, the Speicherstadt and the Chilehaus became the backdrop for engaging investigations. This created not only a playful contest but also a fresh perspective on Old Town: familiar locations turned into stages for mysterious stories and encouraged shared discovery — true team building experience in Old Town.
After exactly three hours everyone reconvened at the rear of St. Peter's main church for the award ceremony. The atmosphere was buoyant, the weather cooperated, and the top three teams were honored with medals. The joy over successful cooperation and the small achievements along the way was clearly palpable.
Experiences like this demonstrate how effective a team building experience in Old Town can be: excitement, fun and shared moments of success strengthen cohesion in a lasting way. It was a pleasure to accompany ZEIT‑Stiftung on this discovery tour through Old Town — a day that will be remembered for a long time.
