Team Building Event Debeka
As a CityHunters team guide, I had the pleasure of leading an exciting Murder Mystery Geocaching for 19 colleagues from Debeka in Dortmund on August 25, 2023. We met punctually at 3:30 pm at Hansaplatz, where I warmly welcomed everyone and briefly explained the plan. The mood was curious and expectant — a perfect start to an unforgettable team building experience in Dortmund.
After the introduction I divided the group into three teams. Each team received a tablet with our special app that guided them to the crime scenes and presented the cases. The mix of puzzles and team tasks quickly created an authentic detective atmosphere: gathering clues, analyzing traces, interviewing witnesses — all while keeping an eye on the clock.
During the tour the teams were on their own and competed for the highest score. Points were awarded for correctly solved puzzles and successful team tasks. I remained reachable by phone throughout the game in case questions or technical issues came up, so everyone could fully focus on the shared experience.
Our route took the teams past several familiar locations that showed Dortmund from a new perspective. Stops like Dortmund Central Station, the striking St. Reinoldi Church and the German Football Museum became exciting settings for our investigations. The weather was fine and did not bother us — on the contrary, it suited the relaxed yet focused atmosphere. The combination of competition, creativity and shared enjoyment quickly put everyone in a good mood. Moments like these foster a lasting team building experience in Dortmund.
After three hours all teams met back at Hansaplatz where we held a joint awards ceremony. It was wonderful to see how much the group had come together and how much fun everyone had. Experiences like this stick in the memory and strengthen team cohesion over the long term.
