Team Building Event Gesellschaft für Konfliktmanagement mbH
The 18 participants from Gesellschaft für Konfliktmanagement mbH met punctually at Universitaetsplatz, ready for a shared adventure in Heidelberg — split into three eager teams.
As the team guide I welcomed the group, gave a brief rundown of the plan and prepared the teams for the tour. With tablets and our custom app we launched the Murder Mystery Geocaching: participants became investigators solving various cases around the city center. It quickly became clear that this format is just the right recipe for an active team building experience in Heidelberg.
During the roughly three-hour tour the teams were on their own and competed against each other in friendly rivalry. Points were awarded for correctly solving puzzles and successfully completing team tasks — creativity, communication and joint decision-making were required. The route passed well-known sights and turned landmarks like Heidelberg Castle, the Old Bridge and Ruprecht-Karls University of Heidelberg into thrilling crime scenes full of clues and aha moments.
The changeable weather did nothing to dampen spirits: even with a few drops the mood stayed lively, with lots of laughter, encouraging calls and focused puzzle-solving. Situations like these especially build cohesion; that's exactly what makes our Murder Mystery Geocaching a great opportunity for a team building experience in Heidelberg. I was reachable by phone throughout the tour in case any questions or minor issues came up — usually a quick hint or an encouraging word was enough to get the teams back on track.
After three hours everyone met back at Universitaetsplatz for the joint awards ceremony. It was wonderful to see how colleagues briefly became investigative teams and how much the experience strengthened team spirit. A team building experience in Heidelberg can be organized in such an uncomplicated, exciting and lasting way.
For me as the team guide it was an all-round successful team building event: full of tension, cooperative and great fun. Anyone who wants to rediscover the city while strengthening team relations will find this format exactly right.
